State 3A boys: Mt. Spokane beats O’Dea 66-62, sends nine seniors off with third place trophy
TACOMA – It wasn’t the trophy they hoped to be playing for, but third place in the state is still a nice reward for a terrific season.

What happened: Bode Gardner scored 18 points with eight rebounds, Ryan Lafferty added 12 and the sixth-seeded Wildcats (22-5) beat the second-seeded Irish (19-11) in the State 3A third-place game at Tacoma Dome on Saturday. McKay Smith and Nalu Vargas added 10 points apiece for Mt. Spokane, which has won four trophies in six straight appearances at State.

What happened: Jacob Cofie scored 20 points, Yabi Aklog added 10 and the third-seeded Crusaders (22-6) beat the sixth-seeded Wildcats (21-5) in a State 3A semifinal at Tacoma Dome on Friday. Ryan Lafferty led Mt Spokane with 22 points and Bode Gardner had 14. Mt Spo faces O'Dea in the third-place game on Saturday.
