UGM Director defends Mission policies about LGBT people

Executive Director Phil Altmeyer, who has been at Union Gospel Mission in Spokane for 32 years, makes a statement about the mission's policies about LGBT individuals and the mission. He is sitting at Harry Altmeyer Park, named after his father, who ran the mission before him. The mission's policies put an end to a deal with the city to put a stormwater swale in the park area in trade for two commercial lots on the other side of the building. The mission wants to keep ownership of the land as a place where homeless folks can relax and not be chased out.
