Felon accused in Mead drive-by shooting arrested

A 34-year-old convicted felon wanted for shooting at his ex-girlfriend and her friend outside a Mead bar was arrested last month in north Spokane.
Fredric G. Hamberg faces two counts of second-degree assault and unlawful possession of a firearm stemming from the shooting, according to a Spokane County Sheriff’s Office news release and court documents.
According to court records, Hamberg’s ex-girlfriend and her friend were parked outside Cinola Bar & Grill, 14712 N. Newport Highway, the night of Jan. 2. Hamberg pulled a Toyota Corolla into the parking lot and fired three shots from a handgun at his ex-girlfriend’s Honda Odyssey van, which the ex and friend were inside.
Hamberg then got back into the Toyota and drove away, according to documents. No one was injured.
Several law enforcement agencies worked together to arrest Hamberg on March 20 in the 7900 block of North Division Street, the release said.
Hamberg is also wanted for second-degree assault (strangulation or suffocation) from a domestic violence incident, the sheriff’s office said.
The U.S. Marshals Service issued a news release March 12 offering a reward of up to $750 for information leading to the location and arrest of Hamberg.
Hamberg made his initial arraignment Tuesday for the shooting charges. He remained Tuesday in the Spokane County Jail on a $180,000 bond.
