Prep roundup: Quincy Schuerman homers, Mt. Spokane slowpitch tops University in nonleague affair

Roundup of Tuesday’s high school sports action from the Greater Spokane League and Northeast A.

All games nonleague unless otherwise noted.

Slowpitch softball

Mt. Spokane 8, University 1: Quincy Schuerman went 2 for 4 with a solo home run and the visiting Wildcats (2-0) beat the Titans (2-1). Ella Jensen went 2 for 3 with an RBI for U-Hi.

Ridgeline 12, Shadle Park 5: Emma Myers had four hits with three runs and two RBIs, and the visiting Falcons (2-0) defeated the Highlanders (1-2). Regan Peterson went 3 for 3 with two runs for the Highlanders.

Mead 21, Rogers 1: Jaycee Coffield had four hits, including two home runs, and the Panthers (2-0) defeated the visiting Pirates (1-1). Kayliani Davis knocked in a run for the Pirates.

Lewis and Clark 22, Cheney 7: Rhiannon Kilgore went 4 for 4 with a pair of triples and the visiting Tigers (1-1) beat the Blackhawks (0-2).

Deer Park 17, East Valley 15 (9): Kapri Bailey hit a two-run home run in a five-run, ninth-inning rally and the visiting Stags (1-1) beat the Knights (0-2). Lacy Akre had five hits and four RBIs to lead East Valley.

Ferris 19, Gonzaga Prep 1: Cadence Hyndman went 3 for 4 with two runs and three RBIs and the Saxons (1-1) beat the visiting Bullpups (0-2). Chloe Perez Liba homered and had four RBIs for Ferris.

Central Valley 22, North Central 2: Whitney Hollen and Ellie Taylor had three hits and three RBIs apiece and the visiting Bears (2-4) beat the Wolfpack (0-2).

Girls soccer

University 2, Ridgeline 1: Carsyn Gildehaus scored two first-half goals and the visiting Titans (2-0) defeated the Falcons (0-1-1). Caitlin Sachtjen scored in the 71st minute for the Falcons.

Freeman 2, North Central: Rylee Russell scored an insurance goal in the 78th minute and the visiting Scotties (1-0) beat the Wolfpack (0-1) at ONE Spokane Stadium. Kelsey Holland made eight saves for the clean sheet. 

Riverside 3, Newport 0: Layla Baker scored two goals, and the Rams (0-1) defeated the visiting Grizzlies (1-1). Emily Hoffman had 10 saves for the Grizzlies.

Deer Park 4, Quincy 3: Rylee Pfeiffer and Sienna Breneman scored two goals apiece and the visiting Stags (1-0) held off the Jackrabbits (0-1).

Volleyball

Gonzaga Prep 3, Central Valley 0: Mara Sandberg had 13 kills and the Bullpups (1-1) swept the visiting Bears (0-1) 25-12, 25-14, 25-14. Keille Eskelsen led CV with six kills.

Mt. Spokane 3, Lewis and Clark 0: Lexi Wideman and Abigail Smith had six kills apiece and the Wildcats (1-0) swept the visiting Tigers (0-1) 25-16, 25-21, 25-19. Alyssa Nichols had four kills for the Tigers.

Deer Park 3, Cheney 2: Camryn Chapman has 17 kills and the visiting Stags (1-0) beat the Blackhawks (0-1) 18-25, 25-18, 25-17, 19-25, 15-10. Mairyn O’Regan led Cheney in kills with seven. 

Mead 3, Ferris 0: Ava Durgan had 10 kills and the visiting Panthers (2-0) swept the Saxons (0-1) 25-14, 25-19, 25-15. Addison Poss led Ferris with eight kills.

Shadle Park 3, Pullman 0: Teagan Schroeder had 12 kills and the Highlanders (3-0) swept the visiting Greyhounds (0-1) 25-19, 25-18, 25-18.

University 3, Clarkston 0: Reese DeGroot had nine kills, Hayley Barrea had eight assists and the visiting Titans (0-2) swept the Bantams (0-1) 25-21, 25-20, 25-18. Roxie Rogers had 27 digs for U-Hi.

Ridgeline 3, Coeur d’Alene 2: The visiting Falcons (1-0) beat the Vikings (13-1) 21-25, 29-27, 16-25, 25-20, 15-13. Details were unavailable.

Lakeside 3, East Valley 0: Bella Tobeck had eight kills and the visiting Eagles (1-0) swept the Knights (0-2) 25-20, 25-23, 25-9. Sienna Weinberger added five aces for Lakeside.
