Whitworth closed on a 9-0 run to beat Hardin-Simmons 77-73 in Spokane.

The Cowboys (4-3) led 73-68 with 1:33 to play. The Pirates (5-0) tied the game 73-73 on a layup by Ty Edwards. Edwards followed with go-ahead free throws with 15 seconds left.

Whitworth’s Jake Holtz led all scorers with 21 points.
