New kids-focused sports facility opening in Post Falls

A couple has turned the husband’s four-year dream into reality as it opens a new youth-focused sports facility in Post Falls.

Katie Libby said Squad9, featuring indoor turf, a gym and exercise equipment, is designed to provide local youths with a place to learn sports and play indoors regardless of the outside weather.

“My husband really wanted to make a place where kids could learn a new sport without joining a full-blown team,” Libby said.

“It’s definitely focused on sports, but it also provides personal training.”

The Libbys and Squad9 are hosting a ribbon cutting on Friday at 1 p.m. and will follow the same day with an open house from 1 to 6 p.m. at the new business located at 726 N. Creative Way.

It has a Post Falls address, but it’s located south of West Seltice Way between Beck Road and Pleasant View Road.

“There is one big open room with a turf area, gym area and workout equipment,” she said. “We have a studio room for classes or kids’ birthday parties.”

The business will rent the facility for team practices and be available for coaches to do mini-clinics. The exercise equipment can also be used by adults, yoga classes and whoever needs access to athletic equipment.

Squad9 also has classrooms that could host strength and mobility classes, home-school sports, agility classes or whatever is needed, she said.

“We do have a business partner and some family involved with it,” Libby said.

“You don’t have to have your kids play sports in the snow. It would be a nice place to have an indoor place, but something affordable where kids can come do their thing.”
