Recap and highlights: Drew Timme powers No. 1 Gonzaga to big win at San Francisco
Drew Timme had 28 points and 10 rebounds and No. 1 Gonzaga got an early lead and never looked back in a 100-61 win over host San Francisco on Saturday at War Memorial Gym.
Timme was 11-of-12 shooting as he came up a point shy of his career, which he scored earlier this year against Virginia. The sophomore center was 2 of 2 from 3-point range.
Corey Kispert, Joel Ayayi and Aaron Cook each scored 12 points to help the Bulldogs (20-0, 11-0 WCC) earn their 24th straight 20-win season.
Jamaree Bouyea and Khalil Shabazz had 14 points apiece to lead USF (10-10, 4-6).
The Zags jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first four minutes behind six points from Timme. He had 15 points in just over six minutes as Gonzaga led 17-2.
Timme had 21 at halftime when Gonzaga led 48-26.
San Francisco shot 35% and was 7 of 33 on 3-pointers. The Dons turned the ball over 15 times which Gonzaga turned into 20 points.
Behind Timme, the Zags, held the advantage in paint points, 48-26, and rebounding, 35-27.
Gonzaga shot 61.0% and was 10 of 21 from 3.
GU point guard Jalen Suggs had 11 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals.
Andrew Nembhard made his second consecutive start for the Zags and also had five assists. The junior guard scored eight points.
Julian Rishwain added 10 points for USF.
Gonzaga is back in action on Thursday when it hosts Saint Mary’s at the McCarthey Athletic Center at 6 p.m. PST.
