Inslee, Culp agree to one debate

Gov. Jay Inslee and his Republican opponent, Republic Police Chief Loren Culp, agreed to one debate before the Nov. 3 general election.

A coalition managed by the Seattle City Club announced the two have agreed to a televised debate on Oct. 7, to take place after the vice presidential debate scheduled for that night. It will be broadcast from the TVW studios in Olympia.

It is so far the only debate scheduled for the governor’s race. In 2012, Inslee debated Republican Attorney General Rob McKenna four times – once each in Vancouver and Yakima and twice in Seattle. In 2016, when seeking his second term, Inslee debated Republican challenger Bill Bryant three times, in Spokane, Seattle and Pasco.
