Man dies, three injured in South Hill crash at Regal and Thurston
A man died Tuesday night after driving through a stop sign and crashing into a car, fire hydrant, power pole and fence. The driver’s young passenger and people in the other vehicle sustained non-life threatening injuries.
Emergency crews arrived to the scene at Regal Street and Thurston Avenue at about 11:15 p.m., according to a news release from the Spokane Police Department.
They found the driver of one vehicle trapped inside the car. Firefighters were able to extricate the driver, but he died at the hospital.
Witnesses and evidence at the scene indicated one vehicle was traveling east on Thurston at a high speed and drove through stop sign at Regal. The vehicle collided with a vehicle headed south on Regal.
The two people in the second vehicle, one adult and one boy, were taken to a local hospital where police said they were expected to be treated and released.
In the first vehicle, there was also a boy who sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries, according to Spokane police.
The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office has not identified the driver of the first vehicle.
