Former Gonzaga forward Micah Downs signs with pro team in Germany

Former Gonzaga forward Micah Downs has signed with s.Oliver Wurzburg in Germany’s Bundesliga Basketball League (BBL).

Downs agreed to a two-month contract to replace injured Brekkott Chapman, the German team announced.

Downs, 34, averaged 12.6 points and 5.3 rebounds last season for Benfica in Portugal. The 12-year professional  has played in Croatia, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Venezuela, Ukraine, Russia and France. He played for the Maine Red Claws in the NBA G League in 2012-13.

Downs joins ex-Zags Elias Harris (MHP Reisen), Ryan Woolridge (Medi Bayreuth) and Jerermy Jones (Hakro Merlins) in the BBL.

Downs averaged 8.6 points and 4.1 rebounds in three seasons at Gonzaga from 2007-09 after transferring from Kansas.
