Man with COVID-19 who exposed several Spokane police to virus ordered to self-isolate

A man with COVID-19 who exposed several Spokane police officers to the novel coronavirus during two DUI arrests last week has been ordered by County Health Officer Dr. Bob Lutz to self-isolate.

Mordecai L. Cochrane, 21, who works at the Philadelphia Macaroni Co., where more than half of employees have tested positive, faces arrest by Spokane police if he doesn’t isolate himself until 5 p.m. Friday, according to the Spokane Regional Health District.

The Spokane County Jail wasn’t notified of Cochrane’s diagnosis until after his release from jail. His roommate during his 12 hours in jail was isolated and tested.

The six police officers involved in his arrests also were isolated.
