Hillyard fight escalates into shooting that sends 3 to hospital

A shooting Wednesday afternoon in Hillyard sent three people to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Several people were fighting in an alley near 5400 North Regal Street just before 2 p.m., according to a Spokane Police Department statement. The fight escalated and one man was hit by a car before someone started shooting.

Two men were shot, and one of them left the scene before police arrived. That victim later turned up at a nearby hospital.

Police still investigating the shooting as of Wednesday afternoon and had not made an arrest.
