Roundabout hurts property value

I’m writing this regarding the roundabout Spokane Valley is putting in on the Sprague and Barker intersection.

I live on the southeast corner of that intersection and I’m concerned of the amount of property they take from the front and side of my home. Looking at the diagram the engineers came up with, my property is the most impacted. When they put this roundabout in, the access to the front of my house on Barker will be gone and on the Sprague side my driveway access will be very limited. This is going to be a safety issue because it will put my house close to traffic.

I questioned why they couldn’t take property from the southwest corner church property or the northeast corner, which is a vacant lot. I was at the council meeting on Feb. 25th and several council members agreed with my concerns and safety issues. They asked the engineer to go back and look at the position of the roundabout.

I am hoping the educated engineers will go back and look at the proposal and use a little common sense and come up with a more comprised plan. If I would want to sell, who would want to buy this property and my property value will sink.
