CdA man killed in head-on crash on Highway 53 near Idaho-Washington border

A 21-year-old Coeur d’Alene man died in a head-on crash on Highway 53 near the Idaho-Washington border Tuesday afternoon.

Gage Frizzell was traveling westbound in a sedan when he drifted into oncoming traffic and collided with a truck driven by Patrick D. Creekmore, 45, of Rathdrum, at about 4:30 p.m., according to Idaho State Police.

Frizzell died at the scene, according to ISP. Creekmore was transported to Kootenai Health with non-life threatening injuries. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

The highway was blocked for about 2 1/2 hours while the scene was cleared, according to ISP.
