Doomed to repeat history

There’s an axiom that says those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. The current culture of destroying or rewriting everything that doesn’t fit into our “woke” culture is an example of this. You don’t have to admire people of previous generations whose ideas and action you find offensive but you should try to learn from their actions and not make the same mistakes.

We may find many facts of our national history upsetting or offensive but it should be noted that they were largely accepted be the general public when they occurred. It would be interesting to see if we transported many of the non African American protesters back into history and raised them under those conditions if they would be part of the approving masses. My guess is that many would. But that will never happen so we are left with the situation at hand.

What started with disgust at the totally unnecessary death of one man at the hands of another has morphed into a general mindless scenario of everyone with a grievance demanding that history be obliterated so their “pain” can be cleansed. So what’s next?

When does the book burning begin?
