Fire damages Post Falls steakhouse GW Hunters
Fire ripped through the attic of a popular steakhouse in Post Falls on Monday afternoon, destroying roof trusses and causing smoke damage throughout the building.
Kootenai County firefighters responded at 4:17 p.m. to GW Hunters at 615 N. Spokane St., near Interstate 90. They used a ladder truck to spray water onto flames that emerged from the roof.
KHQ reported no one was inside the restaurant at the time. The fire was contained in the attic, but repairs would entail replacing the roof. The cause was not immediately clear.
GW Hunters has been in business for nearly 30 years, offering standard steakhouse fare as well as exotic game meats such as kangaroo and ostrich.
The business was put up for sale in mid-December with an asking price of $295,000.
The fire follows a Jan. 20 blaze that severely damaged a building in downtown Coeur d’Alene, displacing six businesses.
