It was the second night facing off for ultimate bragging rights as the all-time top money winners Brad Rutter, Ken Jennings and James Holzhauer took to the stage Wednesday on “Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time.” And for those paying close attention, there were some Washington state names dropped.

“The first person to win three matches will be crowned the greatest of all time,” said executive producer Harry Friedman. The winner gets $1 million, with $250,000 for each runner-up in the contest that first aired Tuesday and will run consecutive nights.

Some of Wednesday’s answers to the challenging game show categories mentioned Washington-centric figures, such as former Washington State quarterback Ryan Leaf; writer Sherman Alexie, who grew up on the Spokane Indian Reservation; and the late Yakima-raised author Raymond Carver.

Those weren’t the only Washington state ties Wednesday night, however. Jennings, who holds the record for the longest winning streak on the U.S. game show, was born and now lives in Edmonds.

The high-profile contest, hosted by Alex Trebek, took place in December. To keep the outcome a mystery, an ABC release has it running through Jan. 16 “if necessary.”
