Spokane firefighters extinguish fire at historic downtown apartment building
Firefighters extinguished a blaze that broke out around 9 p.m. Tuesday on the third floor of the historic San Marco Apartments in downtown Spokane.
Residents were evacuated after an alarm went off inside the building, which was built in 1904.
The Spokane Fire Department brought more than a half-dozen vehicles to the scene, 1229 W. Riverside Ave., including three ladder trucks.
A firefighter at the scene said the blaze appeared to be limited to one unit.
The cause of the fire was not immediately clear, but it appeared the fire had been extinguished as of 9:45 p.m. Residents were allowed to re-enter the building at about 10:15 p.m.
