Larry and LeAnn Adams: A Lindaman’s Love Story

Larry and LeAnn Adams met on a blind date at Lindaman’s in 1997. They only knew what type of clothing the other would be wearing. Every year on the anniversary of that blind date, they would go to Lindaman’s wearing the shirts they wore on that day. Now that Lindaman’s is closed, they don’t know where they will go to re-enact that first date. (Colin Mulvany / The Spokesman-Review)

My wife and I met at Lindaman’s on a blind date on a gorgeous April day in 1997. I was sitting at the counter at 4 p.m. with a T-shirt with a big bee on the back, she was wearing a blue blouse. We did not know what either looked like, only the shirt description. She walked up to me and said, “Are you Larry?”

We got some coffee, and because of the weather, decided to sit outside. It was like meeting an old friend. LeAnn was going to introduce me to some of her friends and dump me. I “had” someplace I needed to be at 5 p.m., so that would be the end of that. We had a second cup. Then we went out for dinner followed by a walk along the river downtown. Finally listened to some music. There was a second date.

We re-enacted this scene at Lindaman’s every year at 4 p.m. on April 24 with the same shirts, I sitting at the counter and LeAnn coming up and asking, “Are you Larry?” We have missed twice, once because of out-of-town business and the other when a major medical event prevented “the date.”

Without Lindaman’s where would we be?
