Education notebook: Ferris leads all schools in Spokane Falls Music Educators’ annual music festival

Ferris High School students led the Spokane Falls Music Educators Association’s annual Regional Solo and Ensemble Music Festival last weekend at Shadle Park High School.

The festival included students from the Spokane Public Schools, Mead School District and area private schools.

Ferris placed 23 times; Mead, six; Lewis and Clark, five; North Central, Mt. Spokane and Shadle, each two; and St. George’s, one.

Small ensembles had two to four students and large ensembles, five to 16.

These students will advance to the WIAA/WMEA State Competition at Central Washington University in April.
