Help (or not)! The beetles invade Priest Lake
When the Beatles invaded America in 1964, they were greeted by onrushing fans. When the beetles invaded Priest Lake this past week, it had the opposite effect.
Those who suffer from entomophobia might want to flee Priest Lake or avoid the serene and pristine destination.
Those who are not freaked out by big bugs should meet the beetles. The cerambycid, aka the longhorn beetle, has arrived, and it is innocuous but massive.
People tend to get startled since the bugs, who can grow to the size of a finger, have a tendency to jump onto humans, but there is no reason to be frightened.
Those taking it easy on the lake can either live with the “Junebugs” that return in August or depart and wait for the first chill of the season to claim the pests.
