A van is seen after crashing into a home in Hayden on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2020.   (Kootenai County Sheriff's Office)

A collision at a Hayden intersection resulted in one of the vehicles crashing into a residence nearby on Saturday afternoon, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, a van crashed into a home at the corner of Wyoming Avenue and Government Way in Hayden  around 12:30 p.m. Saturday after missing a stop sign.

No one was home at the residence when the crash occurred, the release said.

Johnathan Lewis, 47, of Spokane, was westbound on Wyoming when he failed to stop at the intersection, the release said. His van crashed into a pickup driven by Jeremy Ellis, 43, of Hayden, causing the van to spin out into a residence on the corner.

Both Lewis and Ellis sustained minor injuries, according to the release.

Lewis was cited for inattentive driving after the accident. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.
