No more sacrifices

I am one of the people patriotic Americans have sacrificed for, a 49-year-old immune-compromised mother of four. still fighting breast cancer after chemo, double mastectomy and intense radiation. I am at extreme risk for contracting COVID-19.

I was an LPN working in long-term care for almost 20 years. I’ve worked through epidemics. The president and governor initially did what they felt was best, following the science, but all models have a margin of error. In Washington it has not been nearly as devastating as first predicted.

I am genuinely concerned about my fellow Americans as I watch them “self-quarantine” for my benefit. Yes, assisted-living and nursing homes need to change their protocols. However, the numbers suggest it’s high-risk individuals who should be self-quarantining.

Governor Inslee is now talking about extending his “Stay Home, Stay Healthy order” I DO NOT AGREE!!!! People who are healthy can work, use common sense, and should not have to stay home and lose their livelihood because of fear. People need to know and follow CDC guidelines for returning to work (wear a mask, wash hands, stay six feet apart).

I am one of those people who could very easily DIE from this virus, but this has gone on long enough. This may sound cold and uncaring, but it is not! Death happens. It’s time for Governor Inslee to put his big-boy pants on, quit whining about what he wants to see and give the people back their lives.
