New York-based Trans World Entertainment Corp. has named Kunal Chopra as company CEO.

Chopra, who will remain CEO of Trans World Entertainment Corp.’s Spokane Valley-based subsidiary etailz, replaces Mike Feurer, who had been at the helm of the company since 2014.

“I’m thankful to the board’s vote of confidence in me to take Trans World Entertainment and etailz to its next level of growth. etailz’ mission has always been to be a brand’s ultimate online growth partner. Now, it’s Trans World Entertainment’s mission as well,” Chopra said in an email. “This move will only get us one step closer to becoming an industry leader in marketplace growth software and services.”

Chopra’s compensation and terms of employment remain unchanged from an offer letter outlining his position as CEO of etailz, according to a filing Thursday with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Chopra has more than 15 years of executive experience with Microsoft, Amazon and Groupon. In his career, he has led organizational transformation, new business and product development.

He was named CEO of etailz in July, replacing Josh Neblett, who left the company four months prior.

Etailz, a third-party seller on marketplaces such as Amazon and eBay, was acquired by Trans World in 2016 for $75 million.

Trans World, after selling its For Your Entertainment segment in February to a subsidiary of Sunrise Records and Entertainment, indicated it is focusing “exclusively on the growth and success of etailz.”

Trans World Entertainment also named Spokane entrepreneur Tom Simpson to its board of directors last month.

Etailz recently secured more than $30 million in financing to develop new products, expand inventory and grow retail partnerships.
