Our candidates on climate change
I’m writing because I’m a new grandmother. To paraphrase a bit of my favorite poem by Wendell Berry, “and I wake in the night at the least sound in fear of what my life and my grandchild’s life will be …”
I’m talking about the climate crisis. We need to know what our elected officials propose to do about it, especially our local officials who can have an actual impact on implementing common-sense policies that lead to reduced carbon in the atmosphere.
The good news is you have a chance to attend a climate change forum to hear what most of the candidates running for city government have to say on this issue. The bad news is a few of the candidates are skipping the forum, or refusing to even reply to the invitation. Nadine Woodward, do you even acknowledge the problem of climate change? Become an informed voter.
Attend the Spokane Candidate Climate Change Forum on Oct. 2 at 5:30 p.m. in the Globe Room, Cataldo Hall, Gonzaga University.
