Beggs about service
Having served as a community volunteer for all of my 15 years on return to Spokane in retirement, I have “walked” with my friend Breean Beggs.
Those 15 years include his time at Center for Justice as CEO securing justice for Otto Zehm, his work establishing of the Ombudsman for Police oversight and the retiring of Mayor Condon’s Use of Force Commission. He advocated for low-income seniors and together we served the homeless at Shalom and House of Charity.
He is skilled, and experienced (serving on City Council three-and-a-half years), competent, compassionate, accessible and responsive.
I would be proud to be his father.
His opponent is new to Spokane, lives in a gated community and has never attended council meetings. She has little discernible management skills rising to the level of that most important elected position
The choice for me is simple, even if Breean was not a good friend.
He is a good friend because he is about “goodness and service” not about “goods and services.”
