What’s Hoppin’ This Week: Celebrate season with festivals

Wednesday

Pints Alehouse (10111 N. Newport Highway) is hosting its sixth-annual Sour Fest starting Wednesday and continuing through Friday. Stop in to enjoy nine sours on tap, or fill up a crowler to go. Doors open at 3 p.m. each day.

Local nonprofit Friends of the Centennial Trail is partnering with downtown Spokane’s Mountain Lakes Brewing (201 W. Riverside Ave.) for a pint night to raise money. One dollar from each pint sold from 5 to 9 p.m. will be donated.

Idaho Pour Authority (203 Cedar St., Sandpoint) is hosting a pint night to benefit Bonner Partners in Care Clinic, which provides medical care to those unable to afford it in Bonner County. There will be a silent auction and featured beers from Montana’s Bitter Root Brewing. 5-8 p.m.

Thursday

Perry Street Brewing (1025 S. Perry St.) is continuing its annual two-day celebration of Oktoberfest and fresh hop season. The brewery will be releasing several fresh hop and traditional-style German beers over the two days, and the kitchen will be serving German-inspired food specials. Doors open at 2 p.m. both days.

The Growler Guys (225 W. Appleway Ave., Coeur d’Alene) is hosting a tap takeover from Oregon’s Fort George Brewing from 5 to 8 p.m. The guys will have a large selection of Fort George beers on tap for tasting, and a brewery rep will be on hand to talk about all things beer.

Friday

Coeur d’Alene is hosting its annual Oktoberfest celebration Friday and Saturday. There will be three biergarten locations downtown, and several local businesses will have kegs on tap for the celebration. There also will be food, live music and other fun. If you dress up in a lederhosen or dirndl, you’ll receive a free meal ticket. Hours are 4-9 p.m. Friday and noon-9 p.m. Saturday. Tickets start at $25 and include eight sample tokens and a commemorative glass.

The Inland Northwest Craft Beer Festival hosted by the Washington Beer Commission is Friday and Saturday at Avista Stadium (602 N. Havana St., Spokane Valley). More than 40 craft breweries will be on hand pouring nearly 200 beers. Tickets start at $20 and include a commemorative glass and eight sample tokens. Saturday

Matchwood Brewing (513 Oak St., Sandpoint) is the starting and ending point of a 5k fun run to support several local nonprofits that provide services to people living with breast cancer. The run starts at 11 a.m., and costumes are highly encouraged. The $45 registration fee includes the run, a T-shirt and a post-race brat and beer.

Also getting in on the Oktoberfest fun, Daft Badger Brewing (1710 N. Second St., Coeur d’Alene) is celebrating with special beer releases, live music and a German-themed food menu. Noon-8 p.m.
