Griz Freshman Frissell Named Big Sky Conference Athlete of the Week
Montana freshman Beatrix Frissell is off to a terrific start to collegiate running after being named the Big Sky Conference Athlete of the Week on Tuesday following her season opening victory at the Clash of the Inland Northwest meet in Cheney, Washington on Saturday.
Frissell broke away from the rest of her competition during the final half mile of the four-kilometer race, taking top honors with a time of 14:13.
The Polson product is the first Grizzly runner to win a cross country race since Makena Morley won the Big Sky championship in 2015.
Her performance also helped the Montana women to a second place finish in the team standings at the meet, just three points behind Gonzaga.
