What’s Hoppin’ This Week: Halloween parties, Embrace the Darkness and Count Chocula

Wednesday

The Filling Station, at its downtown Coeur d’Alene (501 Sherman Ave.) and Post Falls (306 N. Spokane St.) locations, will be hosting Portland’s Hopworks Urban Brewery for a tap takeover from 5 to 8 p.m.

Epic Sports Bar at Northern Quest Casino (100 N. Hayford Road, Airway Heights) is hosting a beer dinner featuring Oregon’s Ninkasi Brewing starting at 6:30 p.m. The $40 ticket includes four courses each paired with a beer from Ninkasi. Space is limited. Call (509) 481-2122 to make a reservation.

Thursday

Beginning Thursday and continuing through Sunday, Community Pint (120 E. Sprague Ave.) is welcoming the colder weather by hosting its annual Embrace the Darkness event featuring dark beers from across the West Coast. The beers will be available individually or in a flight. Doors open at noon.

Globe Bar & Kitchen (204 N. Division St.) is bringing in Oregon’s Rogue Brewing for a tap takeover beginning at 5 p.m. A rep will be on hand to talk about the beer, and there will be a discount on Rouge pints.

Friday

Spokane Valley’s Genus Brewing will be heading downtown to hang out at Steel Barrel Taproom (154 S. Madison St.), and Genus will be bringing its Count Chocula Imperial Cereal Stout to celebrate Halloween. Enjoy the beer and decorate a provided mini pumpkin from 5:30 to 11:30 p.m.

River City Brewing (121 S. Cedar St.) is celebrating Halloween with a party starting at 8 p.m. There will be beer specials, a DJ, an art show and a costume contest.

Saturday

Humble Abode Brewing (1620 E. Houston Ave.) is hosting the third-anniversary party of popular local food truck One Night Stand BBQ and releasing a smoked vanilla porter to pair with the food. The truck will be on-site from 1 from 6 p.m.

Several local breweries will be on hand to support the local Girl Scouts of Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho at its annual Craft Beer and Cookie Fest at the Girl Scouts’ local headquarters (1404 N. Ash St.) from 4 to 7 p.m. The breweries will offer their best cookie and craft beer pairings, and attendees will vote for their favorites. Tickets are $25 in advance and include a commemorative tasting glass and six beer samples each paired with a cookie.

Black Label Brewing Co. (19 W. Main Ave.) is hosting a Halloween party and costume contest starting at 6 p.m. Local bands will be providing the soundtrack, and the winner of the costume contest receives a 2020 mug club membership.

Also getting into the Halloween spirit, Happy Trails to Brews (9025 N. Indian Trail Road) is celebrating from 7 to 10 p.m. with drink specials, a DJ and prizes that will be awarded for best individual, couple and group costumes.
