What’s Hoppin’ This Week: Vanilla Bourbon Stout, ALS IPA, Greyhounds fundraiser + more
Today
River City Brewing (121 S. Cedar St.) is throwing a release party for the 2019 edition of its newly reimagined Vanilla Bourbon Stout from 4-10 p.m. Enjoy live music and pick up to-go bottles for your Thanksgiving needs.
Friday
Millwood Brewing (9013 E. Frederick Ave., Millwood) is releasing its version of the Ales for ALS IPA with $1 of each pint sold going to the ALS Foundation. The beer will be available in the taproom and at local restaurants and bars. Millwood hopes to kill 20 kegs of this special beer throughout the weekend and raise lots of money for this great cause.
Selkirk Abbey Brewing (6180 E. Seltice Way, Post Falls) is getting into the Black Friday spirit with a daylong bottle and growler fill sale. It’s a chance to score great deals and get your Christmas beer shopping done early. A food truck also will be on hand, and plenty of pints will be available in the tap room.
Whistle Punk Brewing (122 S. Monroe St.) will be raising money for pups when the Greyhound Pets of America Greater Northwest Chapter comes by to kick off the holiday season. One dollar of each beer sold will be donated to this organization, which helps retired greyhound racing dogs find new and loving homes. The event from 6-10 p.m. also includes a silent auction.
Saturday
After more than a year in the making, Bardic Brewing and Cider is celebrating its official grand opening from noon-10 p.m. at its Spokane Valley tasting room (15412 E. Sprague Ave.) Enjoy house-made beer and cider in a laid-back atmosphere. I stopped in during the soft opening last week – you won’t be disappointed.
Trickster Brewing (3850 N. Schreiber Way, Coeur d’Alene) is celebrating its seventh anniversary from noon till close by offering drink specials and releasing its cask conditioned anniversary ale.
The owners of Slate Creek Brewing Co. (1710 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene) have sold the brewery, and it will be closing. I expect to have more details in my next 509 Beer column, but, for now, they are planning a going-away party from 2-10 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to wear black as they “celebrate the life” of the brewery. Beer specials, food and live music will all be on tap. Stop in and wish them well on their future endeavors.
Monday
Humble Abode Brewing (1620 E. Houston Ave.) is in need of gingerbread cookies for an upcoming beer, hence a cookie decorating party from 5-7 p.m. HAB will have the cookies and decorating supplies, so stop by, have a drink and be a part of this special winter brew.
