Spokane election results certified; tie in race for Fairfield Town Council
The Spokane County auditor certified the results of this month’s general election on Tuesday.
More than 47% of the city’s 330,679 voters cast a ballot in this year’s election, making it the highest voter turnout in an odd election year since 2011.
Several races in the city of Spokane and throughout Spokane County were close in this election, which saw Nadine Woodward defeat Spokane City Council President Ben Stuckart in the race for Spokane mayor.
The race for Position 3 on the Fairfield Town Council resulted in a tie, with candidates Dave Watling and Steven Walk each garnering 78 votes. That race will head to an automatic hand recount. If the results hold and are certified, it will be decided by a game of chance.
