Flatstick Pub is now open in downtown Spokane

Seattle-based Flatstick Pub, a casual, craft beer pub with a nine-hole miniature golf course, is now open in downtown Spokane.

Spokane natives and brothers, Sam and Andy Largent, opened Flatstick Pub over the weekend at 612 W. Main Ave. on the ground level The M building.

“We had our friends-and-family soft opening on Saturday and it was really well-received,” Sam Largent said. “Everyone was excited about it, and the consensus among people that have seen all our pubs is the layout (at the Spokane location) turned out great.”

The space includes high ceilings, expansive windows and murals painted by Seattle artist Ryan Henry Ward.

The downtown pub also features 30 taps of local craft beer, cider and wine, and golf-themed games such as “Duffleboard,” “stick putt!” and “Cup Hunter,” which were invented by the Largent brothers.

The brothers partnered with Seattle restaurateur Ethan Stowell to create the pub’s menu.

The concept for Flatstick Pub was inspired by an idea to combine craft beer from independent breweries in Washington with a challenging miniature golf course.

The Largents opened the first Flatstick Pub in Kirkland in 2014 and have since added to two other pubs in Seattle’s Pioneer Square and South Lake Union, in addition to the Spokane location.

Sam Largent said he’s been considering an expansion to Spokane for a few years before finding the space in the heart of downtown at The M building, which was formerly a Macy’s.

Centennial Properties purchased the former Macy’s, which is connected to River Park Square, in 2016 and renovated it into residential and retail space. Centennial Properties and River Park Square are associated with Cowles Co., which publishes The Spokesman-Review.

Largent said there are plans for several fun events at Flatstick Pub in Spokane, including golf leagues and tournaments, following the pub’s grand opening event Dec. 7.

“We will make the big push for the grand opening in two weeks, but anybody can come in now,” Sam Largent said.

The Largents are planning to open additional Flatstick Pub locations in Tacoma and Bellingham early next year.
