Shorten school zones
Everyone knows the strain of driving on the road and then passing a school zone and having to slow way down. School zones can be a big mishap when you’re in a hurry and are especially annoying.
I’m a student at Mead High School, and the school zone there is way too long. School zones are good in that they help protect kids from getting hit by cars, but the one at Mead in the afternoon goes for longer than kids even hang out. The school zone goes from the end of school until about a quarter after 3 p.m., and most kids clear out way before then. Everyone that walks home usually leaves right away, and even those who drive are all gone before 3 p.m.
Other places are school zone only when children are present, and there are no children present for the whole 40ish minutes that the school zone is active for. The school zone is good and should definitely stay, but it could surely be shortened at least a little bit.
