Riverfront Park is spectacular

In response to Britney Inglis (“Realtors divided on campaign spending,” Nov. 3) who said, “I haven’t been able to walk my children through Riverfront Park in five years,” I am truly sorry your children have been deprived of the shining centerpiece of Spokane.

It’s a gem that is wonderful for all ages. Your children have missed the scenic beauty and power of a river coursing through the heart of our city. On the banks of that river one finds a carousel, a sky ride over the magnificent falls, a skate ribbon for skating all year round, free musical concerts, and an iconic Red Wagon which now appears nationally in tourism articles.

Winding through the park is the Centennial Trail for walking and bicycling, leading to our newest showpiece, the pavilion with its beautiful lighting which delights all who see it up close or from afar. The Rotary fountain for many years has been a draw for children who play in its spray all summer long.

Riverfront Park is spectacular: beautiful, safe and friendly, and with few exceptions is free to be enjoyed by all.

I invite you back to our home. I’m proud of it, and think you may be too.
