Listen to GOP leaders
Ronald Reagan’s son, Michael, said his father would likely not have supported the 2016 Republican nominee. George H.W. Bush called Trump “a blowhard” and confirmed that he voted for Hillary Clinton. Barbara Bush said she no longer considered herself a Republican after Trump’s election. George W. Bush left his presidential ballot blank in 2016 and worried he would be the last Republican president. Laura Bush called Trump’s border policy “cruel” and “immoral,” saying, “It breaks my heart.”
When Trump called the news media “the enemy of the people,” John McCain said “the first thing dictators do is shut down the press.” Mitt Romney said Trump “had not risen to the mantle of the office.” When Trump and his White House staff campaigned against the Mueller report, Romney said he was “sickened by the dishonesty … including the President.”
Gen. Colin Powell called Trump “a national disgrace” and “an international pariah.” Condoleezza Rice said, “Enough! Donald Trump should not be president.” Hank Paulson, treasury secretary under George W. Bush, voted for Hillary Clinton. George Shultz, secretary of state under Nixon, declared “God help us!” Three former Republican National Committee chairmen said they did not vote for Trump.
I wonder why?
