Prep volleyball: Mead advances to District 8 4A championship behind Allie Flynn’s 35 assists

Allie Flynn dished out 35 assists and Mead defeated visiting Chiawana 18-25, 25-15, 25-20, 25-22 in a District 8 4A semifinal match. The Panthers advance to play Richland on Saturday in the District 8 4A championship at 1 p.m.

Richland 3, University 0: Brooklyn Worsham had nine kills with two blocks, but the visiting Titans were bested by the Bombers in a semifinal matchup. University will host Ferris in a loser-out match on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Ferris 3, Hanford 1: Aiyana Henderson had 14 digs with 10 blocks and the Saxons eliminated the visiting Falcons in a loser-out match.

Gonzaga Prep 3, Walla Walla 0: Kate Palelek had 23 assists with two aces and the Bullpups eliminated the visiting Blue Devils in a loser-out match. G-Prep advanced to a loser-out match at Chiawana in Pasco on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

District 5/6/7 2A crossovers

Cheney 3, Prosser 1: Sara Graham had 38 assists and the visiting Blackhawks eliminated the Mustangs. Cheney advanced to state.

Pullman 3, Ephrata 0: Mikayla Uhlenkott had 15 kills and the Greyhounds eliminated the visiting Tigers. Pullman advanced to state.

District 7 1A

Lakeside 3, Freeman 0: Mia Pakootas had 16 kills and the Eagles swept the visiting Scotties in the championship at Nine Mile Falls. Lakeside advanced to state.

Freeman 3, Riverside 0: Jordan Goldsmith had 13 kills with seven digs and the Scotties eliminated the Rams in the second-place game at Lakeside HS. Freeman advanced to state.

Riverside beat Newport in a loser-out game to reach the second-place game.

District 7 2B

Northwest Christian 3, Liberty 0: Madi Zorn had 34 assists with five aces and the visiting Crusaders defeated the Lancers in the championship. NWC and Liberty advanced to state.

Colfax 3, Chewelah 1: The Bulldogs beat the Cougars at Liberty HS in the third/fourth-place match. Both advanced to state. Colfax defeated Springdale and Chewelah defeated Wilbur-Creston in loser-out matches on Saturday.

District 7 1B

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 3, Selkirk 0: Maddie Murray recorded 16 kills with seven blocks as the visiting Warriors swept the Rangers in the championship at Northwest Christian. ACH advanced to state.

Odessa 3, Selkirk 0: Maddy Wagner had 13 kills, 11 digs and seven aces as the Tigers eliminated the visiting Rangers in a second-place game at NWC. Odessa advances to state after beating Republic 3-0 and Curlew 3-0 in loser-out matches on Saturday.

Curlew 3, Northport 2: Korin Baker had 20 kills with 11 assists and the visiting Cougars edged the Mustangs in a loser-out matchup at NWC.

District 9 1B

Oakesdale 3, Pomeroy 1: LouEllen Reed had 45 assists and Jessie Reed had 33 digs as the visiting Nighthawks beat the Pirates in the championship match. Oakesdale advanced to state.

Pomeroy 3, Colton 0: Heidi Heytvelt dished out 24 assists and the Pirates eliminated the visiting Wildcats in the second-place match. Pomeroy advanced to state.

Colton 3, St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse 2: Josie Schultheis had 24 digs and the Wildcats eliminated the Eagles in a loser-out match at Pomeroy HS.
