A changing Republican party

It’s sad to see the Republican party devolve into a mixture of communism and fascism. It used to be the party of conservative freedoms, now they want to restrict freedom.

Freedom of speech is the cornerstone of American liberty, but Republicans are increasingly curtailing that freedom. President Trump has called for restricting free press and has issued directives censoring legitimate scientific inquiries. Scientists at the Center for Disease Control are being censored. Environmental Protection Agency reports are being rewritten by political appointees. What could be more communistic than restricting free speech, censoring the media, and controlling research?

Freedom of religion is another cornerstone, but Republicans only grant that freedom to Jews and Christians, not Muslims, Atheists or Buddhists.

Trump’s twitter war against black football players is another example. What could be more American than peacefully taking a knee to protest racial inequality? What could be more fascist than threatening those peaceful protestors with economic or bodily harm?

It’s not surprising that President Trump and his cronies are consolidating their control over the American populace. What is surprising is the number of Republicans that abandoned American principles and now embrace the practices of Communism and Fascism.
