Voting a newcomer doesn’t work

Sunday’s editorial endorsement, made “solely by the ownership group and publisher …” (Spokesman-Review, Oct. 20) was disappointing and encourages history repeating itself.

Did we not learn that voting in a “newcomer” does not work? If the city has been making gains the past 8 years why would we want to alter course? I don’t want to see city policies stop or reverse because a newbie wants to swing the pendulum. Treatment or jail? That is the harshest approach I have ever heard of and it borders on civil rights violations. A 35-year career in media and sour statements towards local media? That sounds familiar at a national level. Answers that frequently dodge the question? Again, familiar.

Our current “president” had a TV show. He had no political experience. He’s a business man. He has no foreign policy experience except to marry foreigners. How’s that working for the United States of America? And the owners and publisher of The Spokesman-Review want to repeat this mistake on a local level? Wow.

If you want to continue with the city’s progress, it’s clear who to vote for.
