‘Ancient Land’ brings Celtic Woman to the Fox on Saturday
Since the group formed in 2004, Celtic Woman has been bringing traditional Irish tunes as well as original works to the masses.
The group, currently comprised of singers Máiréad Carlin, Éabha McMahon and Megan Walsh and violinist Tara McNeill, released its 13th album, “Ancient Land,” in October.
The album brings the quartet to the Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox on Saturday.
“Ancient Land” features original songs like “Follow Me,” “Be Still” and the instrumental “Love & Honour,” traditional Irish songs including “Sive,” “Mná na hÉireann (Women of Ireland)” and “Moorlough Shore,” and the quartet’s take on contemporary songs like “Long Journey Home,” “Going Home” and “Homeland.”
A Celtic Woman concert featuring songs from “Ancient Land,” Irish classics and covers, filmed at the historic Johnstown Castle in County Wexford, Ireland aired on PBS in the fall.
