An Idaho office equipment and IT services provider has purchased Spokane Valley-based ABC Office Equipment.

Fisher’s Technology, an 82-year-old company founded in Boise, finalized the acquisition of ABC Office Equipment on Wednesday. With the purchase, the company expands into Washington, adding former ABC locations in Spokane Valley and Colville to its four in southern Idaho and five in Montana.

The area stores will become Fisher’s Technology locations.

“We could not be more excited to serve the businesses and communities of Washington,” Chris Taylor, Fisher’s Technology president and CEO, said in a statement. “Washington is a truly amazing place with thriving, innovative companies that deserve high-performing technology supported by a high-quality service team.”

Taylor said during an interview Thursday that Fisher’s Technology expanded to Spokane because it’s a natural extension geographically for the company.

He added Fisher’s Technology can bring production printing, document management and telephone solutions to ABC Office Equipment’s existing clients.

“Some of these offerings in our portfolio didn’t exist in ABC’s,” he said.

Taylor said the company isn’t planning to expand Washington operations beyond Spokane and Colville.

“We are a growth company, but we want to get this right and make sure we integrate the team properly,” he said.

Taylor declined to disclose financial details of the acquisition.

ABC Office Equipment was founded in 1952 and transformed from an office equipment company to a full-scale IT services provider for businesses in Spokane Valley. Employees purchased the company in 1990 and opened asecond location in Colville in 2016.

Mike Brandon, former president and CEO of ABC Office Equipment, retired Thursdayafter more than 50 years in the office equipment industry.

“I was planning to retire for the last year or so. We essentially reached out to a number of different companies and entered into casual conversations,” he said Thursday. “We selected Fisher’s Technology as the best fit.”

Brandon said there were common elements between the two companies, which both offer copy, printer and IT services.

Fisher’s Technology is extending employment to ABC Office Equipment’s employees, which include more than 15 people in the Spokane Valley office.

“I think it’s important for customers to know the same people they have been interacting with are still here, they just have more resources than they had before because we are now owned by a larger company,” Brandon said.
