WSDOT says no extension this year, get your studded snow tires off before April 1 or face fine
The state Department of Transportation will not extend this year’s deadline for taking off studded snow tires, meaning drivers will have until Sunday, March 31, to remove them.
Starting April 1, drivers with studded tires face a $136 fine.
In 2018, transportation officials in Oregon and Washington extended the deadline to April 15 to help drivers handle late-season snowfall.
One study from the Department of Transportation suggested studded tires cause $20 million worth of damage to Washington roads annually.
