CDC doesn’t sell vaccines
I would like to say that one of my favorite pastimes while I have my morning coffee is to read the letters to the editor. I especially enjoy reading letters that have different viewpoints from my own … they make me think. My politics are very much centrist. I do lean a little liberal but am willing to accept good solutions to problems no matter from where they come.
What I do not like to read are outright incorrect statements.
On March 3, a letter was printed stating that the Centers for Disease Control manufactures and profits from the sale of vaccines (“Mandatory vaccines?” Todd Horner). This did not sound correct to me and the writer gave no source for this statement.
I spent a considerable amount to time trying to find a source for this information. After much searching and reading I believe the statement to be patently “false.” The CDC has many roles which involve the prevention of disease, vaccines being a major part of their mandate. They do not manufacture vaccines. They do not sell vaccines.
There are plenty of sources on the web if you have the time to do research. Publishing false information only makes solutions to difficult problems harder to find.
