“I went to it when I was a kid and it was really cool,” said Reegan Walsh. Helena High sophomore Reegan Walsh is among dozens of students who helped the community have a “dino-mite” time at the Science Circus. “It’s a good way to show what we’re doing in school but also work with the community. We’re working a lot in our science classes on what we’re studying and how cool science is so we get to show all the little kids how actually cool science is,” said Reegan Walsh. Reegan and several of her softball teammates hosted exhibits at the event. Bengals head coach Ryan Schulte says giving up indoor practice space for the weekend is more than worth it. “Our whole gym, upper gym, all the decks, and the main floor is completely full of kids talking about science and showing different experiments to young kids coming through. Something I’m proud of with our girls is they’re involved in a lot of different things and that’s what we ask them to be is well-rounded and involved in our community. It’s an exciting thing for them. They have fun with it,” said Ryan Schulte. Reegan’s older sister, Vanessa, says students in the high school’s Science Seminar class spend months planning the event. The circus also provides a place for the Bengals to be together away from the field. “Making the friendship part of it and not just the teammate part of it. Everybody is just so involved in our school. It’s such a cool experience,” said Vanessa Walsh. “You stand in and they demonstrate around you and some of them you get hands-on and some of them you can eat and then other ones they just show you. The happiness and how excited kids are about science just makes you want to learn more and see why they think it’s so exciting and it is,” said Reegan Walsh.
