Dems’ blinders on again

Call this an observation, an analysis or a warning. And they don’t even see it. They sure didn’t when Donald Trump won the last time.

I’m talking about the Democratic Party. There is still about a year before the primaries, and things can happen, but if the Democratic candidates we’ve seen so far continue on the path they seem to have chosen, they are practically guaranteeing another term for the current president of the United States. The economy is too good – unemployment is too low – stocks are too high – and they are saying things too wild that only excite the noisy fringe of the party. That could cause the moderate Democrats to stay home.

However, those same things fire up Republicans, and that might force them out to vote. So, what about the quiet but massive middle? Everything I read indicates they accounted for about 40 percent of the vote in 2016. The Democratic National Committee will never consider it, but Howard Schultz (Starbucks) talks to that middle, and – instead of being the enemy, he could be the one person who could give The Donald a run. No worries, Mr. President. They’ll never see it.
