Police on Thursday morning responded to a reported shooting in the Grandview-Thorpe neighborhood, a small cluster of homes in the city’s southwest corner. No one was hurt.

They found no victims or evidence of bullet holes but said a man reportedly fired several rounds near 20th Avenue and D Street Wednesday evening, and then again in the same area at about 10:30 a.m. on Thursday morning, when two witnesses called 911.

One witness reported seeing a man with a gun, and the other reported hearing a gunshot.

No one was arrested in relation to the reported shooting.

By 11 a.m. Thursday, more than a dozen police vehicles swarmed the neighborhood, including an armored vehicle called a BearCat, which is typically used in SWAT situations. In the area where the man was seen, police found a spent shell casing and a live round.

Sgt. Terry Preuninger said witnesses believe the man escaped to a nearby expansive wooded area that sits atop Grandview Park. Once police learned it was not an active shooting situation, Preuninger said officers began canvassing the area, including talking to neighbors.

Several neighbors said they didn’t hear any gunshots before police arrived.
