Two adult loons care for two chicks early in June. Baby loons only ride on their parents back for the first week or two after hatching, said photographer Joanie Christian. Christian emphasized that she took this photo using a telephoto lens and cropped the image even more to get the close up affect. Loons are very sensitive to humans and wildlife lovers should keep a respectful distance.
