Library policing controversies

So you have 40 police officers at a Drag Queen Story Hour (“Libraries homeless ‘problem,’ ” June 19), and city officials and library board members are scufawwing the idea of one uniformed police officer to monitor the Spokane Public Library, where there has been known drug/needle use, physical confrontations and other disturbing public safety behaviors (i.e. people yelling at patrons … even if due to mental health issues)? Then, a statement by Kelly Cruz: “…our officers are stretched thin right now.” Maybe 40 officers shouldn’t be at a story hour? Is it just me, or does this reek of idiocy?

A shout out to Nadine Woodward, who will be receiving my vote for mayor, political maneuvering aside.

Commonsense goes a long way in addressing problems. Nonsense wastes tax-payers money.

And thank God she posted reality so the lay public can see for themselves what’s really going on! I call “nonsense” on other city officials and library board members who apparently want us to believe “if it’s not put out there for all to see, it’s not happening.” Sheesh!
