CVSD’s financial priorities

What is wrong with this picture?

Central Valley School District is laying off school support personnel while they have two principals assigned to future school waiting for construction completion with no students to lead. Nothing against these two men, but I don’t think they have Construction Management degrees.

These two principals are getting paid a handsome amount of money. It is explained that they are setting up curriculum and managing the construction. CVSD has rebuilt an elementary school, replaced a middle school and constructed new elementary schools while the current principals ran the schools and managed their new schools’ construction. Some managed students in two different buildings. These schools came out very nice.

Yes, some staff must be hired, but do you hire a year or two ahead? No, maybe six months.

CVSD could be using the money saved by having these two gentlemen in a building where students are. They are losing a year or three of interaction with the students.

Why did the school board let this happen? Are they just a rubber stamp for what Mr. Small wants? Maybe it is time to have an overhaul of the school board. We can elect new members this year.

CVSD, what are your priorities, the students or Mr. Small’s wishes?
