Lessons from the Holocaust

I believe the lessons of the Holocaust should be taught in our high schools. An excellent resource would be Rick Steve’s video, “The Rise of Fascism in Europe.” The parallels with what is happening in our county are plain to see.

Another resource is Elie Weisel’s book, “Night,” which young people could relate to - a horrible system seen through the eyes of a 16-year-old boy. Young people need to know what these inhumane philosophies lead to.

The Spokesman-Review invites original letters on local topics of public interest. Your letter must adhere to the following rules:

  • No more than 250 words
  • We reserve the right to reject letters that are not factually correct, racist or are written with malice.
  • We cannot accept more than one letter a month from the same writer.
  • With each letter, include your daytime phone number and street address.
  • The Spokesman-Review retains the nonexclusive right to archive and re-publish any material submitted for publication.
