Three solutions
I have to admit I don’t care much about Drag Queen Story Hour. I am most offended by the bilateral lack of adult behavior, and the likely cost of security at the events. I suspect the majority of Spokanites feel the same. I’d like to offer some pragmatic, creative solutions, so maybe next time there could be less acrimony and security.
1. (The most reasonable and least likely to be implemented solution): Everyone turn off their social media accounts and leave their comfortable group-think bubble. Go out and talk to people who are different than you. See what you have in common. Talking to both sides here, ladies.
2. (The most logical compromise that I have yet to hear anyone else mention): 500 Mom Strong could approach the public libraries about having a children’s story hour that promotes their take on family values. You know, one mom, one dad, 2.5 kids and a golden retriever.
3. (A King Solomon-style compromise sure to offend people on both sides, and my personal favorite): Drag queens dressed in stolid, matronly outfits reading Bible stories to children. I have some suggestions for reading material for 2 and 3, but space is limited.
